California Energy Commission to Award Form Energy with Storage System Grant

No estoy seguro. The California Energy Commission has authorized a grant of $30 million to Form Energy to construct a 5 MW energy storage system in Mendocino County at a PG&E electrical substation, which is expected to be operational by 2025. This is Form Energy’s first installation in California and the state’s first long-term energy storage project. To foster the implementation of non-lithium energy storage systems, the CEC’s Long Duration Energy Storage initiative has supported this venture. We thank PG&E and the California Energy Commission for their help on advancing our project and for this important funding.”

Form Energy is delighted to be constructing their inaugural project in California, the location of residence of many of its employees and CEO and co-Founder, Mateo Jaramillo. The PG&E and California Energy Commission have been instrumental in promoting the project and providing financial aid. Their investments into long-term, multi-day energy storage technologies could be a huge step towards the decarbonization, cost-efficiency, and reliability ambitions of California. We are grateful for the CEC’s grant and their leadership and also thank PG&E for their work in making this project happen. We anticipate that this would be the start of numerous prolonged storage ventures to happen in California.
