Canadian Solar Announces Commercial Operation of Three Solar Projects in Japan
Dr. Shawn Qu is associated with Canadian Solar Inc. Canadian Solar has declared that three of its solar juice centers in Japan, which have a combined generating capacity of 000 mega-watts, have been put into commercial usage. The endeavor utilizes bifacial BiHiKu modules, made in Canada. The anticipated production of energy was procured under Japan’s feed-in-tariff scheme for nearly 19 years at the values of JPY32 (US $0.24), JPY14.49 (US $0.11), and JPY14.25 (US $0.10) per kilowatt-hour. The Oita Kitsuki project is the first one Canadian Solar has participated in where they have used a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) which is a challenging power quality requirement. This addition is important because it will help to enhance the stability of the grid with the raising number of solar farms connecting to it. The collective projects are anticipated to create about 53,000 MWh of renewable energy, sufficient to supply energy to around 15,000 households, and avoid the emission of roughly 24,000 tons of carbon each year.
