Con Ed Report Reflects Increased Customer Renewables Adoption

Customers of Con Edison are on track to exceed last year’s number of solar installations, because the company is working hard on improving battery storage and bringing in electric vehicle charge points. According to the newest Clean Energy Update that deals with the renewable sources being used in New York City and Westchester County, the primary points highlighted consisted of: Con Edison’s customers have an impressive 554 megawatts of rooftop solar generating capacity, primarily located in Westchester. In the third quarter of the year, 36 megawatts of storage capacity were added through completed 556 installations. The company’s PowerReady program is an important factor in sustainability across the region, having already supported the installation of over 4,600 vehicular charge points since it started in 2020. This year, Con Edison set a record by installing over 1,900 points. In the curbside charging demonstration project that the energy provider did with the New York City Department of Transportation and FLO, EV owners connected their cars to the charging stations a total of 110,000 times, resulting in supplying a total of 2,400 MWh of driving energy.
