Developer Kicks Off Construction of 4 MW Community Solar Project

Genie Solar Energy has initiated the creation of a 4 MW solar energy array meant to provide electricity to a community in Perry, NY. This array will be composed of an estimated 9,000 solar panels. It is anticipated that this array will produce more than 5,000 MWh each year, which is enough electricity to serve around 440 households and prevent over 3,500 metric tons of carbon from being released into the air. Construction of the array is expected to finish up in the latter half of this year. Genie Solar is going to cover the expenses of any upgrades that are needed in order to hook the project up to the local electrical grid. National Grid, a local utility, will handle the work at a time of their own choosing. Michael Stein, CEO of Genie, expressed excitement about the opportunity to give locals in Perry the advantages of clean and renewable solar power. We want to thank the board and employees of the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority for their guidance as well as the people in the Perry area for their backing during the arrangement process.
