DOI, BLM Announce Next Steps in Promoting Solar Energy Development
The revised plan enhances the initial scrutiny of the first six states and broadens the scope to encompass Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. The Bureau of Land Management is actively handling 67 large-scale mainland renewable energy proposals situated on public territories in the western United States. The projects involve solar, wind, and geothermal energy ventures, as well as essential gen-tie lines that are crucial for renewable energy initiatives on land not owned by the federal government. These initiatives could collectively contribute over 37 gigawatts of clean energy to the grid in the Western United States. Additionally, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is in the early stages of examining more than 195 proposals focused on solar and wind energy projects, along with 97 applications related to site testing for solar and wind power generation.
