EDF Renewables, Indiana Michigan Power Collaborate on Solar Projects

Name von Eric Spigelman EDF Renewables North America has announced two deals with Indiana Michigan Power, a branch of American Electric Power. By these agreements, I&M will add 1353 MW DC (or 425 MW AC) of solar energy to its portfolio. The energy supply from Sculpin Solar will be purchased by I&M for 30 years, and the company will acquire 100% of the equity interests (318 MW DC or 245 MW AC) of Lake Trout Solar after construction is finished. Eric Spigelman, senior director of origination and power marketing at EDF Renewables, expressed his pleasure at being able to collaborate with I&M, and he added that the new contracts contribute to I&M’s aim of providing its customers with carbon-free electricity. Indiana is pioneering progress in the energy industry to be decarbonized, which is creating opportunities for economic growth by way of increased employment, vendor transactions, taxes, and lease payments. It is believed that the total output of these two initiatives will reach 880,000 MWh of renewable energy each year. This has the same effect as preventing the emission of 624,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year – an amount which is equivalent to the greenhouse gases generated by 135,000 automobiles in a 12-month period.
