Enel Green Power Starts Building Italian Agrivoltaic Plant
Salvatore Bernabei. In Tarquinia, we are constructing a solar plant that demonstrates that renewable energy can be combined with farming in a complementary manner. Fodder and borage will be cultivated in the gaps between the solar panels as well as in the spaces around overhead power lines, while olive trees will be planted around the outside. Salvatore Bernabei, CEO of Enel Green Power, declared that “this project displays that we can increase the use of renewable energy while still preserving agricultural activities.” This plant is designed to fit in perfectly with the surroundings and will cultivate crops, which will lead to a beneficial outcome for both the environment, the economy, and the region. It will also help Italy to reduce its reliance on energy sources. The businesses that are doing the building work come from Latium, mainly in the Viterbo area. Around 330 people will be hired for a period of time estimated to be 13 months for the construction.
