Hanwha will start EVA sheet manufacturing near Qcells solar panel factory in Georgia

Guvernatorul Georgiei Today, Brian Kemp proclaimed that Hanwha Advanced Materials Georgia, a producer of EVA and backsheet, is planning on investing $147 million in the building of a new factory in Cartersville, Georgia. Hanwha Advanced Materials Georgia, a subsidiary of Hanwha Group, is set to bring more than 160 new jobs to the area and provide Qcells solar panels manufactured in the state with encapsulant film. Hanwha will be the only company in the US with the technology to create ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) sheets. Endurans Solar, located in New Hampshire, specializes in fabricating backsheets only. Inhwan Kim, CEO of Hanwha Advanced Materials, expressed enthusiasm for the company’s role in the development of renewable energy sources. “We provide a key piece in the puzzle of clean energy,” he said. Constructing our state-of-the-art, sophisticated materials in Georgia will not only generate fresh jobs in solar power but aid in bringing inexpensive, reliable renewable energy to people all over the nation. Hanwha will create a new encapsulant plant in the same location as Qcells’ 3.3-GW multi-stage solar production line that is in the process of being built. The Qcells factory is expected to commence production in late 2024, and the encapsulant factory should be operational by Summer of that year. HG Park, President of Qcells North America, stated that the most recent investment is essential for the company to build an entire American solar supply chain.
