Inverter makers still hesitant to commit to domestic manufacturing

In SPW’s update for 2023 regarding global locations for inverter manufacturing, a handful of businesses have moved their production out of China even though a lot of them are still creating products there. For a couple of years, SPW has been recording data about international inverter production thanks to the heightened expense of some international production due to taxes. The Inflation Reduction Act contains tax credits that are an additional benefit of U.S. manufacturing. Nevertheless, this is according to the Treasury Department. The IRS has not yet provided information on how U.S. producers can take advantage of the new tax breaks for creating particular solar products, so firms have been unwilling to devoted to constructing new facilities inside the United States.
