McCarthy Building Companies Named EPC Contractor for 800 MW Project

Scott dal Canada. This spring, Swift Current Energy is making preparations to start building their Double Black Diamond solar project in the middle of Illinois. The organization has chosen McCarthy Building Companies of St. Louis as their engineering, procurement, and construction contractor. Moreover, they have chosen First Solar to provide 800 MW DC of solar modules, and Nextracker to provide the intelligent solar tracker solutions for the project. A large portion of the 1.6 million solar panels for the project will be produced in the US. The job of building the Double Black Diamond solar project has already been started by a group of 435 personnel chosen by the related labor unions in the area. The personnel involved in the project are projected to be present for around 14 months starting from late spring of 2023. The project is anticipated to begin delivering commercially by autumn 2024, with Swift Current being in charge of owning and operating the site. Objectives concerning apprenticeship and inclusivity targeting women, minorities, and those of deprived and disadvantaged backgrounds have been established, which are being facilitated by the local unions of carpenters, workers, operators, electricians, and lead crew personnel. McCarthy is joining forces with labor unions to train workers new to utility-scale solar construction, in order to respond to the rapid increases in solar power usage around the nation. They will be responsible for designing, buying, creating, and testing the largest solar energy project in Illinois, which adds to the region’s commitment to green energy. Scott Canada from McCarthy’s renewable energy and storage team stated that this project will support state sustainability goals, and make a positive impact on the people of the region. Once completed, the scheme will deliver dependable, renewable energy and erase the same quantity of emissions as over 85,000 homes in Illinois every year.
