Paris BPU, TVA, Silicon Ranch Debut Latest Solar Farm
Laura Zapata. Silicon Ranch, a company that focuses on renewable energy and is based in the community, alongside the Paris Board of Public Utilities and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) have finished the Paris Solar Farm in Puryear, Tenn., which produces 6.75 megawatts of alternating current. The conception of this site is a part of TVA’s Generation Flexibility Program. This solar farm serves as an example of how organizations determined to reduce carbon emissions can join forces with local energy suppliers to the advantage of a locality. Laura Zapata, CEO and co-founder of Clearloop, stated that the program was made to inspire community power suppliers to initiate distributed energy sources and give local options for renewable energy consumption to clients. Rivian and Paris BPU are demonstrating the advantages of collaborating together to those areas of the country which stand to benefit the most by uniting the goal of reducing emissions with potential prosperity. Silicon Ranch will provide hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional taxation proceeds to the county throughout the duration of the operation, which will finance infrastructure and any other communal needs that were pinpointed by the inhabitants. This requires little to no use of county services in return.
