Secure Solar Futures Signs PPA With Tazewell Four Seasons YMCA
Secure Solar Futures has inked a 25-year solar power purchasing agreement with Tazewell Four Seasons YMCA in Virginia. This arrangement involves the development of a 483 kW power system, supplying the facility with solar energy without any initial capital expense. Shawn Durham, YMCA’s CEO, notes that adopting solar power aligns with their mission. “It will allow us to conserve funds that we can reinvest into community initiatives, while also contributing to environmental preservation.” Secure Solar Futures will set up 912 panels produced by Jinko Solar on the plot next to the YMCA building, filling the array. Once the solar equipment is installed, the corporation will take charge of its operations, upkeep, and ownership, selling the green energy created to the YMCA for the duration of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The solar system is projected to generate 15,212,832 kWh of electrical energy over the course of 25 years, satisfying 98.5% of the YMCA’s energy requirements. On reaching the end of the PPA, the YMCA will gain ownership of the system at no extra expense, thereby being able to generate its own power for the remaining 35 to 40 years of the equipment’s expected lifespan.
