SEG Solar Acquires Manufacturing Facility, Plans 2 GW of Capacity
SEG Solar’s factory for producing photovoltaic modules located in Texas. SEG Solar has finalized the purchase of a Houston production center that can make over 2 gigawatts of photovoltaic modules. The building is made up of 145,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space and 16,000 square feet of office space. The building will be outfitted with three production lines that will permit SEG to make both TOPCON and high-efficiency N-type PV modules with 182 mm or 210 mm solar cells. SEG plans to purchase some parts for the items created in the plant from local vendors. Production in the plant should commence in the first quarter of 2024. The total investment that SEG will make into the facility, encompassing equipment and facility upgrades, is estimated to be over $60 million. By the end of 2023, SEG will have shifted its main office and administrative services to the new location. SEG is eager to establish a manufacturing base in Texas and anticipates providing the U.S. market with additional domestic production, according to Michael Eden, the company’s vice president and CLO. It is projected that this could lead to the development of up to 500 new jobs in the Houston region. This facility will contribute to the preservation of environment-friendly, carbon-free energy autonomy in the U.S. for generations to come.
