SEIA’s diversity and inclusion program certifies 22 solar companies in first year

By February 23rd, 2023. After one year in action, SEIA’s original Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice Certification Program has brought about notable progress and is aiding clean energy companies to improve their internal DEIJ operations. Enterprises from all parts of the value chain are utilizing the program’s 13 sections in order to elevate the clean energy sector’s level of DEIJ work. The new report, covering the time period of October 2021 to October 2022, reveals that 45 businesses enrolled in the DEIJ Certification Program, with 19 organizations attaining Bronze certification, two acquiring Silver and sole corporation, RES Group, acquiring Gold. Abigail Ross Hopper, the president and CEO of SEIA, exclaimed that in order for the solar workforce to keep up with the imminent rise of clean energy, laissez-faire attitude is not an option. We cannot anticipate fairness to spontaneously increase, and the decisions we make now will have an effect on our capability to realize our aspirations in the Decade of solar energy. We recognize the significance of the DEIJ Certification Program as a means to bridge the space between theory and practice, and we expect to continue augmenting the achievements of this critical program. The yearly account emphasizes the aspects that businesses partaking in the DEIJ are centering on as they make headway in their efforts. The program covers both internal factors in DEIJ and outside elements too, with more than two-thirds of the companies involved in the program declaring that they constantly promote environmental justice regulations. All the organizations mentioned are collaborating with different front line communities. The report also provides details insight into the companies that are taking part in the program. This program is able to make DEIJ services available and affordable to businesses both big and small.
