Sol Systems, Google Putting Funding to Work Through Electric Co-Ops
Juri Horwitz’ Name. Sol Systems and Google have developed a plan for purchasing and investing in renewable energy which will lead to the set up of solar energy projects and bolster the nearby towns in which they are constructed. Their strategy will be applied to solar projects that are being created by Pine Gate Renewables in North Carolina and South Carolina. This plan supplies investment to start 225 MW DC of new solar energy works and store 18 MW of battery energies. This region, which has relatively little renewable energy capacity, is especially important to Google and its goal of providing 24/7 carbon-free energy. In addition to investing here, Google and Sol Systems are supplying capital to initiate important financial support to groups that serve minority and under-privileged communities. This partnership with Google will help bring key energy saving and safety improvements to lower- income households. Four regional organizations; Roanoke Electric Cooperative (NC), Santee Electric Cooperative (SC), Aiken Electric Cooperative (SC) and the Sustainability Institute of South Carolina have been awarded funding from this venture. CEO of Sol Systems, Yuri Horwitz, expressed his gratitude for working with Google, who have taken groundbreaking strides in renewable energy and community development. In the same manner they have shown in the past, they are still giving guidance and introducing new ideas to the sector. We anticipate continuing this work in the near future. Our goal is for all Google data centers to be using only renewable energy sources by the year 2030 all throughout the day and night.
