The White House Council on Environmental Quality has announced guidance that will enable agencies to assess greenhouse gas impacts while assessing National Environmental Policy Act reviews. Abigail Ross Hopper, President and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), has released the following statement in response to this development. The White House Council on Environmental Quality is moving ahead to boost the formation of clean energy initiatives that will decrease the amount of greenhouse gases from the American energy source. This guidance will facilitate clean power initiatives, particularly on federal lands, which not only diminish the amount of climate-impacting emissions from the electricity sector, but also bring employment opportunities and financial advantages to the neighbourhoods where solar projects are erected.
