Solar Developer SRE Goes Big – 1.2 GW – On Qcells Modules

Summit Ridge Energy (SRE) has announced that it has closed a deal with Qcells to obtain 1.2 GW of solar modules for use throughout the next 4 years in the development of more than 350 solar projects, mainly community solar versions. The first 200 MW of panels is projected to be put in place before the end of 2020. The arrangement between SRE and Qcells includes 20 MWh of energy storage. To bolster this, SRE and Qcells united to introduce three individual energy storage projects in New York City with a collective capacity of over 46 MWh and featuring Qcells Geli energy management system. SRE CEO Steve Raeder expressed that this partnership will give SRE the ability to offer clean energy to more places in America, which will also sustain our domestic manufacturing sector. We have to keep discovering methods of providing inexpensive electricity to ordinary citizens of the U.S., especially those towns that have depended on fossil fuels for a long time. Qcells plans to commit $2.5 billion towards creating a complete, silicon-based supplier network within the United States, making them the initial ones to carry out this venture, the company explains. The majority of SRE’s solar panels will be created in Qcells’ U.S. assembly plants.
