Recently, a Nexamp community solar farm finished constructing in Louisville, Illinois. Southern Illinois Healthcare, headquartered in Carbondale, Illinois, is a multi-hospital entity. As a not-for-profit organization, Dan Boeckman, the SIH Corporate Director of Facilities, stated that their main focus is to get the most out of each dollar spent in order to guarantee their mission of bettering the welfare and wellbeing of their encompassed neighbourhoods. He then went on to mention that the organisation has subscribed to three of Nexamp’s community solar farms located in Illinois: Pope Creek Solar in Aledo, Mound City Solar in Mound City, and Percy Renewables 1 in Percy. Taking part in a community solar scheme gives us the opportunity to use our money responsibly while also helping to increase the amount of clean energy in Illinois. Nexamp’s solar farm will create savings for each kilowatt-hour of energy created. The costs of SIH electricity accounts in the Ameren service region will be doubly compensated with these credits. Joe Fiori, director of energy sales for Nexamp, explains the importance of providing healthcare institutions with predictible savings year to year. He emphasises how crucial it is for them to maintain sustainability in their long-term plans. To facilitate this, each credit is sold at a fixed discount for the duration of the agreement. This arrangement with SIH provides them with an extra approach they can use to remain a forefront force in the area.
