State of the Union Highlights Victories and Path Forward for American Clean Energy
Tuesday, February 7th 2023. Spread the word. A statement has been released to the public. This is a comment from Abigail Ross Hopper, head of the Solar Energy Industries Association, on President Biden’s State of the Union address: President Biden has proposed a cutting-edge plan for an equitable, fair, and green energy economy, and the United States is heading in the right direction as it further reduces its carbon footprint. This evening ushers in the first State of the Union address since the President put the Inflation Reduction Act into effect and reshaped the route of America’s drive to tackle the effects of global warming. Following the implementation of the IRA in August, we have already seen the impact with massive job creation and multiple billions of dollars in venture capital. People from various political perspectives agree that the clean energy industry needs to reduce its dependence on sources hostile to us, and the Independent Resources Act was the first large step to give a boost to manufacturing linked to the U.S. renewable energy sector. Over the next 12 years, the solar installation will multiply fivefold, enough to supply power to the residences east of the Mississippi. Residents all over will be enjoying cleaner air quality and having reliable, job prospects that provide money to support their households. The IRA should be an instrument of support for disadvantaged communities, pushing them to the head of the line in the American success narrative. Equality must always be taken into consideration when working in the solar and storage industry.
